Made in England to high quality standards, these soft-faced hammers provide a safet alternative to striking with conventional steel hammers in industrial applications.
The resilient faces shape themselves to the part being struck. Acting as shock absorbers, they spread the force of the blow uniformly, minimising inefficient rebound and damage to the components. Soft faced hammers also reduce noise pollution in the workplace.
However, use of any striking tool carries with it potential risks and requires care to prevent possible personal injury or damage to the tool and workpiece. Never for example use these soft-faced hammers as a non-sparking tool in hazardous areas.
SOME RULES FOR HAMMER SAFETY
ALWAYS wear safety goggles when using striking tools to protect the eyes from dust and particles.
ALWAYS inspect the hammer before beginning the task to be sure it is not damaged and that all parts are secure. Be certain that replaceable faces are fitted securely into the head. On split-head hammers, be sure that the socket head cap screws are periodically retightened, as necessary.
NEVER use a hammer with a spit or damaged handle. The practice of taping a cracked handle is dangerous and can result in injury to the user as well as nearby personnel.
ALWAYS replace striking faces before they wear down far enough to allow the body of the hammer head to contact the work surface.
NEVER use a hammer with a loose handle. Loose handles should be replaced or fitted with new wedges of the proper size. Replacement handles should be the same length and quality as the original.
